Migration Utility

Migration Utility

This section details how to use the Migration Utility in Kyvos to migrate data models and metadata from Tableau and Power BI workbooks to Kyvos with minimal manual effort, ensuring continuity of analysis.

This feature migrates data models and metadata from Tableau and Power BI workbooks into Kyvos with minimal manual effort. Users can perform the same analyses in Kyvos—using Kyvos Dialogs or the MCP Server—that they executed in Tableau and Power BI. This ensures workflow continuity and accelerates Kyvos adoption.

Important

You can currently migrate only Tableau workbooks or Power BI reports based on the Snowflake data source. Support for more data sources will be added in future releases.

With this utility, you can:

  • Switching Tableau and Power BI Workbooks to Kyvos Semantic Model: With this utility, users can now continue using their existing workbooks by connecting them to the Kyvos semantic model for improved performance.

  • Migrating Tableau and Power BI Workbooks into Kyvos: Kyvos now provides a seamless mechanism to migrate data models and metadata from Tableau and Power BI workbooks into Kyvos with minimal manual effort.

The steps to switch and migrate Tableau and Power BI workbooks and Power BI reports are the same. The following section shows how to switch and migrate a Tableau workbook and Power BI report.

Switching Tableau Workbook to Kyvos Semantic Model

Points to know

  • Currently, only the conditional set is supported. Other set types will be supported in future releases.

  • Enhanced Power BI report handling for dynamic parameters created within workbooks.

  • Added support for custom SQL-based definitions while migrating Tableau workbooks.

Note

The procedure to switch a Tableau workbook or Power BI report to a Kyvos semantic model is the same. The selection images may vary. This demonstration explains the Tableau workbook flow.
