Creating connection using Kyvos Excel Add-in

To create a connection using the Kyvos Excel Add-in, perform the following steps.

  1. Now, open an Excel sheet. Click the Kyvos > Connections. The Manage Connections dialog is displayed.

  2. Click Add Connection. In the Setup section, complete the following details:

    1. Name: Name of the connection.

    2. Kyvos Server: Kyvos Server URL to connect to semantic models for querying.

    3. Authentication Method: This is by default set as Browser based login/ OAuth.

  3. Click Connect. The Identity Provider dialog is displayed.

  4. Enter your Identity Provider username and password.

  5. Click Verify.

  6. Once verified, you will get a list of all semantic models' folder.

  7. Click the plus icon to expand the folder and select the semantic model.

  8. Click Save. By default, the connection is saved at this path: ..\Documents\My Data Sources
    For example, C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\My Data Sources

  9. Once the connection is successfully established, a success message is displayed.

  10. Click Ok and Save the connection. The connection with a green dot indicates the connection has established.

Note

After establishing the connection, you need to insert pivot table and choose connection for creating reports.

Creating PivotTables using the connection

To create pivots, perform the following steps.

  1. Go to the Insert tab and click PivotTable. The Create PivotTable dialog box is displayed.

  2. On the dialog box, select Use an external data source option and click Choose connection.

  3. Select a created connection on which you want to query, click Open and then click Ok.

  4. Now, you can create a visualization as needed.

Deleting a connection

You can easily delete a single or all connections at a time.

To delete a single connection, click Action menu (…), and select Delete.

To delete all connections, click Action menu (…), and select Delete All.
