Report (Menu) Options

The Ad hoc Report Designer provides several report-level operations accessible through the main menu. These operations help in designing, running, and managing report layouts effectively.
Action Buttons and Their Functions
Button | Description |

Run | Executes the report using the complete dataset and displays the full output based on selected data fields, filters, and layout settings. |
Preview | Runs the report in preview mode. For larger datasets, it loads a sample with the first 10 fields (columns) and 200 records (rows). Useful for quickly validating report layout without fetching complete data. |
Open | Opens a previously saved ad hoc report for editing. Displays the Open Report Layout dialog where you can select the folder and choose the saved report layout. |
Save | Saves the current report settings including data source, selected fields, grouping, sorting, layout components, and styles. Opens the Save Layout dialog prompting for a report name and folder location. You can also access this option from the bottom-right of the report designer screen. |
Save As | Saves the report layout with a different name. Opens the Save Layout dialog to enter a new report name and choose a folder. Useful for creating variations of an existing report. |
