Filter Actions

Filter actions create interactivity by using selections in one view to filter data in other views. They enable click-through analysis and coordinated multi-sheet dashboards. Filter actions can be triggered by selecting, hovering, or clicking a menu. They're fundamental for creating guided analytical experiences where users explore from overview to detail.

To create filter actions, perform the following steps.

1. With OrderDate from Kyvos, create two worksheets.

   1. In Sheet 1, Region to Rows and Sum Sales to text.

   2. In Sheet 2, select Sub-Category to Rows and Sum Sales to text.

2. Create a dashboard and add both sheets.

3. From the Dashboard menu, point to Actions.

   Open

   

4. Click Add action > filter.

   Open

   

5. Name it as Region Filter.

6. On the Edit Filter Action Dialog, for Sheet 1, Target: Sheet 2 & Run action: Select.

   Open

   

7. Click Ok.

8. To check, click a region bar in Sheet 1 to filter Sheet 2.
