Working with Studio Reports Charts

Applies to: Kyvos Reporting

Charts are graphical representations of data that help you quickly analyze large volumes of information. You can use charts to identify trends, measure performance over time, and highlight key metrics.

Kyvos Reporting Studio enables you to add charts to your reports, allowing for visual analysis alongside tabular data.

Choosing the Right Chart Type

You can select from a variety of chart types to best suit the data and the analytical purpose of your report. The chart options available depend on the following factors:

1. Chart Type

Each chart type supports different visualization goals:

  • Bar/Column charts require at least one numeric field to define an axis.

  • Pie charts display only one data series and are ideal for highlighting proportional values.

Tip

Choose a chart type based on the nature of your data and the insight you want to communicate.

2. Number of Data Fields

The number of fields you select affects how the chart is rendered:

  • For a bar chart, you need at least two data series.

  • For a pie chart, only one data series is used.

Bound vs. Unbound Charts

The behavior of a chart depends on whether it is bound or unbound:

Chart Type

Behavior

Chart Type

Behavior

Bound

The chart is plotted using the data available in the report section where the chart is placed. The chart’s scope is limited to the data source used by the report.

Unbound

The chart uses its data source. It is plotted using the full set of data records, regardless of the report section where it is placed.

Important

When using a bound chart, ensure that it is placed in the appropriate report section to access the intended data.
