Drop Lines

Drop lines add reference lines from marks to axes, making it easier to read exact values and compare marks to scale. They improve precision when interpreting visualizations with many data points. Drop lines can be displayed for all marks, highlighted marks only, or on hover. They're beneficial for scatter plots and line charts.

To add drop lines, perform the following steps.

1. Using Kyvos OrderDate, create a scatter plot with Sum Sales on Columns and Sum Profit on Rows.

2. Add a Sub-Category to a Detail to create multiple marks.

3. Right-click on the visualization

4. Select Drop Lines > Show Drop Lines.

   Open

   

5. Lines appear from marks to both axes.

6. To customize, right-click > Edit Drop Lines.

   Open

   

7. Select All, Highlighted, or Line to display.

8. Select axes to show drop lines: Both, Rows only, or Columns only.

   Open

   

9. Format line style, color, and weight.

10. Click Ok.
