Default Properties

Default properties set consistent formatting, colors, aggregation, and sorting for fields across all worksheets. They establish standards that apply whenever a field is used, reducing repetitive formatting. Default properties include number format, color, sort order, aggregation type, and comments. They ensure consistency and save significant time in workbook development.

To set default properties, perform the following steps.

1. Using Kyvos OrderDate, right-click Sales in the Data pane.

2. Select Default Properties. The submenu shows options as Number Format, Color, Aggregation, Sort, and Comment.

3. Select the Number Format.

4. Select Currency (Custom) and set to 0 decimal places.

5. Click Ok.

6. For dimensions, right-click Category > Default Properties > Color.

7. Assign colors to each category member.

8. All future uses of these fields inherit these properties.

9. Add a bubble chart viz to view the colors you applied in the default properties, and hover over the viz to view the format of sumsales.

10. Right-click the sum sales > Default properties > Aggregation > Sum.
