Parameter Actions
Parameter actions update parameter values based on user selections in the visualization, creating dynamic, data-driven interactivity. They enable users to control calculations, reference lines, and filters through direct interaction with marks. Parameter actions bridge the gap between static parameters and user selections. They're essential for building responsive, self-service analytical applications.
To update parameter values, perform the following steps.
With Kyvos OrderDate, create a parameter named Selected Category (String type) and select the datatype as string.
Create a calculated field, Category Selection.
To create a view, “Category" to Columns, "Sum Sales" to Rows, "Category Selection" to Color.
From the menu, select Worksheet > Actions > Add Action > Change Parameter.
Enter name as "Select Category Parameter.
Enter the Target parameter as Selected Category.
Enter the source field as Category.
Click Ok.
Click bars to update the parameter and change the highlighting.
